      How to obtain a Schengen visa from Ukraine

      How to obtain a Schengen visa in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa and other cities of Ukraine?

      Regardless of the destination country, it is important to convince the visa officer about the true purpose of your visit: tourism, business, private visit, cultural/sports events, education, medical treatment, conferences, etc.

      Visa for Europe – how long does it take?
      Usually up to two weeks. In certain cases, urgent processing may be possible in 1–3 days after submission (where regulations allow). Stay rule: no more than 90 days within each 180-day period.

      Processing for nationals of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Vietnam, Afghanistan and other South-East Asian countries typically takes 1–2 weeks, but may extend due to verification procedures. Collection is done in person at the visa centre/consulate on the assigned date/time.

      Bulgaria, Hungary, Portugal, Estonia are often considered more “loyal” in practice. A Schengen visa generally allows travel across all countries in the Schengen Area.

      ✓ Who can apply “with guarantee”

      A “guarantee” option is available only for foreign nationals who have a valid residence permit in Ukraine.

      • Proof of work (last 6 months) / study, or a bank certificate (minimum €700 balance).
      • For students, application is possible from the 2nd year of studies.
      ✓ Not processed
      • Applicants with previous Schengen refusals;
      • Applicants from “high-risk” countries: Iran, North Korea, Russia, Somalia, Syria (case-by-case).
      ✓ Complex history? Start with a consultation and eligibility check.
      ✓ Long-term “guarantee” visas

      • 6 months: may be possible with a “clean” passport (no prior Schengen).
      ✓ Submission conditions
      • Personal submission and biometrics (fingerprints);
      • Passport collection without personal presence (delivery may be possible at recipient’s cost).
      ✓ Validity & passport requirements
      • With a “clean” passport, the “guarantee” option is typically limited to 7–14 days;
      • 1-year visa — only with used Schengen visas within the last 3 years.
      ✓ Payment terms
      • 50% — guarantee deposit (refunded in case of refusal; not refunded if the applicant does not appear for submission);
      • Remaining amount — after receiving the passport with the visa.
      For details please see Payment.

      If a visa is issued for a shorter period, a recalculation is made and the overpayment is refunded. After approval, it is recommended to use the Hungary visa within 3 months. Extension is possible only if there are strong legal grounds.

      Key requirements: strong reasons to return (property / employment / minor children), sufficient funds, no criminal record, and a transparent travel purpose.

      Common refusal reasons include hiding the real purpose of travel, providing false/outdated data, or previous violations in Schengen countries. A positive visa history is a strong advantage.

      FAQ — Schengen Visa (Type C)

      Clear answers for foreigners applying from Ukraine (Asia, Africa, Middle East, CIS). No “mystery documents” — only logic.
      What documents are required for a Schengen visa?
      Typically: passport + copies, legal residence in Ukraine, form, photo, insurance, proof of funds, proof of work/business, itinerary, accommodation booking, and documents confirming the purpose (invitation/event/tourism plan). Exact list depends on the consulate and your case.
      Why do refusals happen?
      Most common: insufficient funds, unclear purpose, inconsistencies in dates/route, weak ties, incomplete file, doubts about return. We structure the application so every document supports one consistent story.
      How long does it take?
      Standard processing is often up to 2 weeks. In certain cases urgent timelines may be possible where regulations allow. Time depends on citizenship, season, and verification procedures.
      Visa centre / consulate appointment: how does submission work?
      Submission is usually done in person (biometrics, and photos if required). The date and time are assigned by the visa centre/consulate. We help you prepare the file, organise bookings, and check consistency before submission to reduce returns and additional requests.
      What financial proof is needed (and how much money to show)?
      The consulate checks that you have sufficient funds for the entire trip. Common proof: bank statements, income evidence (employment/business), tax documents, sponsorship (if applicable), and expense confirmations (accommodation, tickets). Exact amounts depend on the destination country and trip duration — the key is realistic numbers that match your itinerary and documents.
      How to start with VISA-SVIT?
      Send: citizenship + residence status in Ukraine + destination + travel dates. We reply with a checklist and a step-by-step plan.
