Wienki and Laikonik: Summer festivals in Poland that you shouldn't miss

Wienki and Laikonik: Summer festivals in Poland that you shouldn't miss

The cultural abundance of events in Ukraine's neighboring country, Poland, is undeniable. This is a state where knowing history and remembering folklore is prestigious and fashionable, and anyone can confirm this - both a tourist and a citizen of another country who owns a Pole's card or a residence card. We decided to make the upcoming events the topic of today's review - summer festivals, which are worth participating in even without a visa to Poland, which Ukrainians no longer need!

Laikonik
This is rather a theatrical performance, the scale of which covers both the venue (St. Norbert Monastery) and the whole of Krakow, ending at the Market Square. Rushing horse racing, national music and hundreds of mummers - it's really interesting. The festival is held on June 11, and this year it promises to be even more expressive - it will appeal to both travelers and those who live in the country and own a residence card - a residence permit in Poland.

Vyanki
In simple words, this is the holiday of the summer solstice, which is celebrated simultaneously with the well-known Ivan Kupala. Pagan roots are preserved in this process to the maximum, but modern alternative festivities were not without. Celebrated June 28th.

OFF
This is an event in contrast to the previous ones, which at least once in their life was attended by everyone who lives, studies or works in Poland, or lives in the country permanently and has a Polish residence card. One of the largest rock festivals in Europe, the list of events of which includes screenings of film premieres, exhibitions and, of course, concerts of national and guest groups. In 2019, it will be held from 4 to 6 August.
You should not think that while attending these events you will have a bright cultural contrast, rather, it is a reminder that Polish citizenship will not put you in a mental stupor, even if you suddenly want to move to this country and get permanent residence in Poland. What can be said unequivocally is that the Poles should especially take note of the desire to popularize their culture, which they succeed in 100%, even being in the "halo" of the EU.
