Studying at a Polish university becomes a reality

Every year the number of people wishing to get a European education is growing. Many foreigners manage to make this dream come true in the Republic of Poland. Here they have the opportunity not only to obtain high-quality knowledge, but also to try to find their place in the international business environment.

Almost half of foreign students are from Ukraine. The popularity of Polish higher education institutions among Ukrainians is explained by many factors, the main of which are affordable tuition fees and proximity to home. An important role is also played by the similarity of the cultures of neighboring peoples, the proximity of the Polish language, which is much easier for Ukrainian students to learn than other European languages.

What is the educational system in the Republic of Poland?

High school graduates continue their further studies under the licentiate program. The course of study at the first level is from 3 to 3.5 years. After passing it, students receive a bachelor's degree. The duration of training at the second level is 2-2.5 years. Upon completion, students defend their thesis, but the status of a master is awarded only after practice in Polish companies. Those who wish to devote their lives to science are trained in doctoral studies. After the end of the third stage, the status of candidate of science or doctor is assigned.

Bachelor's graduates entering the master's program are exempted from taking exams, regardless of whether they go to their specialty or not. Therefore, continuing their studies at the second level, students can simultaneously become certified employees in various areas. This is also possible if the first diploma was obtained in any other EU country. Only future doctors and lawyers will have to go through the full cycle of training again.

Admission rules

You can find out what documents you need to provide to the university and what the cost of education is on the website of the educational institution. It also describes in detail all the stages of admission. Communication between the applicant and the admissions committee is carried out via e-mail, and the submission of documents also takes place online. This process consists of the following steps:

• registration;
• sending copies of all documents;
• conclusion of a contract;
• tuition fees;
• obtaining a Schengen visa.

In addition to the original school leaving certificate and its certified translation, a medical certificate, insurance for the entire period of study, and two photographs of the specified format are required for admission. Instead of a document from the school, it is possible to provide a bachelor's degree. All documents, including attachments, are apostilled.

When studying at the university is carried out in Polish, then the applicant must also have a certificate of language proficiency, not lower than level B1. If the study will be held in English, then a certificate is required, which would confirm a sufficient level of proficiency in it.

Having received a bachelor's degree or becoming a master after completing a full-time course, a foreign citizen can always apply for a job in Poland. In this case, no additional permits for work are required.
